The Petrol Conundrum

hmmm... where do i start.... since everyones talking about the fuel hike... mayb i will just start there then....

Now first up i want you all to know that i am all for the abolishment of government subsidized petrol which according to 'them' is about RM56 billion... now if you abolish this then maybe the money saved can be reverted to develop a world class public transport infrastructure... no not the 'after thought' system that we see being done now... i mean a total rethink and MEGA infrastructure for public transport be developed, be it proper walk ways, cycling paths, bus, MRT, LRT, otherRT's ....subways, byways, proper overhead bridges...... a person must be able to walk at least a 10KM radius without any kind of stupid obstacles....like the lack of a proper crossing....

Maybe something like Europe... why go far... how about something like Singapore.... yes i might make fun of them... sometimes i dont even know why ...other times it even seems appropriate but GOD!!! you can walk the whole Island without problems... why is that they can get it right while we are still in the dark about public transport????

So yeah... i say abolish it... completely... cos even now its still subsidized by 30sens... and if you have a smaller CC car you get a rebate every year...... I say abolish it!!!!!!!!!.... then maybe then, car prices will come down drastically and we will not have issues on AP... or missed used import taxes... over or under estimates on value for personal profit and so on and so forth...

Damn!!....i need some Chocolate Crispy's.........

On the very day the announcement of the increased petrol price went out... the skies opened up and poured in protest... or was it just tears of laughter.... Well it was truly a serious thunderstorm which was quite scary....a flash of light and next thing i know... the main switch in my hse goes off and i was in darkness... only the laptop screen illuminated the room as im editing some photos.... i move apart the curtains to get some light in but decide not too when flashes upon flashes of lightning streak across the sky while cracks of thunder follow almost immediately.....

I decide to leave the mains off too while i continue to edit the pixs... Rose calls to say shes stuck in jam and as i look out at the LDP i can see that nobody is getting home fast... it was at a standstill... same as the NPE... my sister who was heading into bangsar also was stuck... but then i realize ...maybe the jam wasnt because of the rain... maybe it was because everyones jamming the petrol stations trying to fill up on petrol before..... well maybe it was both.... i am certain that not everyone was so kiosu to go out in rush hour jam to get petrol.... those who did had selfishly caused a jam so bad it lasted till almost midnite ... thats when the new price of RM2.70 starts... i say selfishly because im sure some off you had seen that they were hogging the roads and junctions that lead into petrol stations causing others to get stuck in unwanted jams... people who just wanted to get home after a long day at work... those who weren't kiasu enought to want to fill up and save maybe RM40 for a full tank of petrol (for americans or think they are americans, petrol means gas or gasoline) ... and may i ask how much of petrol was wasted while waiting in your cars stuck in jam??? if you where stuck in an hour of jam thats almost RM20 gone......not enuff you waste so much of petrol ... you make other non kiasu people waste petrol too by getting everyone stuck in jam...

Well i hope you are proud... so proud that you saved RM40... oh wait you used RM20 of petrol being stuck in jam... so yeah... i hope you are proud that you saved RM20 :P

ok lah ok lah.... i will stop rambling :P

Just because.....

Well… im sure everywhere you go everyone talking about the new dawn in Malaysian politics ….a 50/50 control between BN and Opposition parties….. Call me a sceptic … but I really need to see it to believe it…. So lets see how things go yeah…..

I have no idea why BN is shocked of the lose of full or majority control and its even worst when all BN can say is how bad its going to be and that the Opposition shld be careful with their new found power…. And many Ministers,… I mean former ministers keep trying to scare us with impending doom as the opposition now have a hand in administrating the country….

I sincerely hope that the opposition will prove otherwise… So for the next 4 years they have got to prove to all of us if not…. BN will just have another landslide win come the next elections…….. hope is all I have for a better Malaysia… where all that talk is not just a façade ……..because for some reason these past few days I have been thinking what if… we, the minority race are still denied unanimity and must still give way to the majority…

The best not given a chance just because ……….…..
The minority still marginalized just because………...

So im going to wait….. wait and see ….to see what the new ‘gorvment’ has to offer us ‘Malaysians’… as a whole and not just as Malays, Chinese, Indians dan lain lain (and Others)

Dreamy Purple

Shot this during Dan's Farewell party in Plaza TTDI. I found the foyer to be a dreamy purple or some sort of purple.... Took me a few tries to get the white balance right... not sure if i did but it turned out ok.

Anyway besides the Hindraf gathering which the police failed to stop even with road blocks and stationed police offices at varies locations all over klang valley which only made traffic worst every day for the past two weeks... which come to think of it was not as bad the few hours last sunday.... ok ok i shall not get into it.... for now.... for another post then.... but if you really want to see the truth about the gathering... then go to www.jeffooi.com and you can compare it with the reports you have read in the newspapers.... like how jeff put it... let the pictures do the talking...

It was my burpday yesday... but i really really really wasnt in the mood to do anything.... work an stuff lah...... but Rose eventually persuaded me to go out and catch a bite and a movie... ./...... Dinner was so so... tried a new mediterranean place in the new wing of Sunway Pyramid... eeerrr! i forgot the name .... it was something Fig or Fig something...hmmm... anyway.... it was not too bad but for what i got i think the price is a little too much.

After dinner we went and watched the movie Hitman ...hmmmm .... i like shoot'em up brainless movies.... but this one was bad... the action was ok lah... but overall it was a bad... anyway ... will write about it another day...

Yellow Yellow BERSIH fellow

Does this look like 4,ooo people.... maybe you should add another zero....

http://minaq-jinggo.fotopages.com/?entry=1340101&back=http://minaq-jinggo.fotopages.com/?page=0

It wasn’t your normal “Saturday I want to get back home” kinda jam… that’s what I thought as I sat there in the car waiting at the lights in Brickfields… determined to get to Masjid India because every other Indian cloths shop was closed for the festive Deepavali weekend….. but I shocked to see Police manning the lights and had diverted all traffic into Jalan Parlimen… “hmmm what was going on”, I say… nearly half an hour passes and we give up our quest and head back to PJ through Damansara, suddenly we decide to go to Bangsar Village ….but not before the heavens opened up and it rained of anger and rage…..

Oblivious are we of the goings on of our country…… It was only after an e-message in the afternoon did I flick on the news in one might say a rare occasion of which I’m grateful to have subscribed to the cutthroat Asstro TV… and watch thousands of Malaysian’s paint the Town Yellow…. Well sometimes when one paints you will need water!!!

Some will say don’t drag the royals into politics and other will assure you that there was not nor a peep while abroad….. But then… why oh why then… the request of the ISA for a memorandum none would accept…. Irresponsible are they the campaigners to march in one voice? Blinded are they with their quest for transparency? Perhaps… maybe…. but determined they are….united they must…… shunned they should not be …

I watched Aljazeera as more and more info was searched and among all the fellows that voiced their antipathy on the demonstration... this YB datuk seri Zainuddin Maidin... our very own Information Minister said it the best.....
.
.
Al Jazeera: Why are protesters being sprayed with Chemical filled water?
Zainuddin Maidin : I am watching, I hear. It is not as what you have been trying to do this, to do it everywhere but in Malaysia people are laugh you, We know our Police at last have allowed this procession to go to Istana Negara you know. Do Police, First Police might be have handled them with tear gas. Police don't, don't fire anybody.
.

Al Jazeera: Our correspondent came back to our office with chemicals in his eyes
Zainuddin Maidin : This is the way, your idea is that what you are trying to project what is your mind, you think we are Pakistan, we are Burma, we are Myanmar. Your thinking
.

Al Jazeera: Well unfortunately when you refused to let people to protest, it does appear so.
Zainuddin Maidin: That is why we are not like you. That is why you have early perception. You come here and you want to project us as like undemocratic country. This is a democratic country.
.

Al Jazeera: So why can't people protest then if it is a democratic country?
Zainuddin Maidin: First people protest. We are allowing protest and they have demonstrated. But when we try to disperse them, and then later when they don't want to disperse. But later our Police compromise. They have compromised and allowed then to proceed to Istana Negara. Police, our Police have succeeded in handling them gently, right? Why don't you report that and you take the opposition, someone from the opposition party, you asked him to speak and you don't take from the Government, right
.

Al Jazeera: Why did you not break up these protesters more peacefully?
Zainuddin Maidin: Pardon, pardon
.

Al Jazeera: Why did you not break up these protests more peacefully?
Zainuddin Maidin: I can't hear you. I can't hear you.
.

Al Jazeera: Why did you not break up these protests more peacefully?
Zainuddin Maidin: No, we are, first this is illegal. We don't want, normally this demonstration. .
.

Al Jazeera: OK, let me return to my former question: why is the protest illegal?
Zainuddin Maidin: Yeah it is illegal. First is because (Why?) we have the election in Malaysia. No point of having a protest. We are allowing, we have an election every five years, never fail. We are not like Myanmar, not like other country. And you are helping these. You at Al Jazerra is also helping these, these forces. You know these forces who are not impatient, who don't believe in democracy.....
.
.

Al Jazeera: Many thanks for joining us.

Sinbad in better times

This was taken in Jan 04. It was almost 2 feet long.

This was taken after its first 'Jump' out of the tank last year April 06. The light fixture had come loose and fell into the tank which ofcos cause Sinbad to jump. You can see on the side one of its scales came out. It was a little more the 2 and half feet long.

Sinbad observing in the background during APMs prayer sessions last month April 07. It doesn't look it but Sinbad was almost 3 feet long. Its hard coming back to an empty tank... didnt think i would take it so badly...

Somebody to love...

I was tagged by Daniel with 'Which Act No Longer Performing Live Would I've Loved to Have Seen?' ... this is a tough one because i am not really into music... growing up my daily music intonation was just anything good thats playing on the radio, U2, Sting, Queen, actually almost all 80s pop songs and anything from Hillsongs(praise and worship songs btw). And Im supposed to list 5 ah... Actually most of the bands i do want to watch Live are still actively making music... and the once that are not active or defunct are so boring to watch live for example CCR... i like their songs but i once watched two songs performed live on tv and it was soooo boring.....

I believe a good band with really good songs dont necessarily make good entertainers... anyway lets get along to my list shall we;

1) Queen
Its hard to deny that their catchy tunes really creep right into your blood... They are infectious entertainers.... Freddy's energy on stage is just amazing... I love every single song ever sang by Queen, i even love the song that Mecury sang for the Barcelona Olympics... it is truly a sad lost as he was one of the best entertainer and singer whose unique persona made Queen (the band) great.

2) New Order
You can be born in the synthesizer age and not love Blue Monday right? but hmmm are they still actively playing music?

3) Genesis
I cant dance, I cant talk. The only thing about me is the way I walk.... Phil Collins really made Genesis 'move into the light' when he joined them... I have seen Phil play the drums on one of Genesis concerts i watched...again on tv.. and i must say, it was really really good... and when Phil played along side Sting on live8 it was total bliss. I heard that Genesis is getting together for another concert tour... dont know if this is true..

4) AHA
Yes yes... i like AHA... actually i like many 80s pop bands but most dont do good concerts... And AHA, like New Order make fairly entertaining concerts one of which i watched on tv a long long time ago. Again i dont know if they are still together and are able to do a concert in the near future.

5) Jean Michel Jarre
You're probably going.. "say what!??" or "Jean Michel Who?".. he is one of the fathers of New Age Music and i caught he's concert, yes you guessed it 'on tv' back in 1988 and i was simply blown away... He incorporates his music with fireworks laser lights and all the elements around him ...simply awesome. Here is a wikipedia search on him or you can click on the title above to go to his official site.

hmmm after looking at the list above its most likely that Queen is the only act no longer performing live that I'd loved to have seen......

American Idol updates: Yes its finally over... and Jordin the victorious champion... Watched the late nite reapeat cos i had Pentecost Rally practice. Only watched till Bette Midler croaked on stage then I went to bed... Actually other then Bette Midler showing us she has lost it... the show was pretty entertaining.. Tony Bennet showed us that he still got it even at hundred and eleventy years old. Even Paula looked good and finally did not look like a drag queen..

Lets make lots of Money

Read an interesting article on Hong Kiat’s Blog about a website were you can put your picture on any kind of currency... ringgit malaysia also got. It was fun for a little while then i got bored and went to the next blog....

Talking about Malaysia... how about Malaysia two most finest 'Yang Berhormat's' who really showed how much they 'hormat' (respect) women... Joking or not joking WTF lah... hai yo... bunch of monkeys in suits... or as Patrick Teo put it 'Pigs in Suits'.... you can look up the video on your tube...

American Idol... Blake i feel looks so out of place and his beat boxing is beginning to annoy me... Doolittle did alot yesterday actually..... she really is versatile and a really superb singer while Jordin showed her inexperience eventhough she sang well...... no surprise If Blake gets booted.... but if he does get into the finale 2...... i will not eat Peanutbutter choco strip sandwich for breakfast tomorrow.

Tagged for the very first time....

.....ok maybe not like a virgin... but like a kid in the school yard running around saying "sape!!! jadi...!!jadi...!! jadi..!!". "Police and Thieves" or "Catching" ring a bell anyone?... (jadi means 'become', but in this case means 'Tagged!!, you're it')

Well, its been hard trying to think of 6 weird things about me to list down... Apart from the fact that I'm duller in person then i am on the net blogging about stuff and the fact that I do have quite a number of excessive compulsive behaviors, which one would be the 6 most weirdest things about me... hmmm.. ... lets see

1) Hand Wash OCD
I wash my hands thoroughly with soap every time after; i go to the loo, eating, working on the car/garden/house and aquariums, petting any kind of animal. And i am not talking about a burst of water and a whiff of soap... i'm talking surgeon getting ready for an operation kind of hand washing... Long soapy wash from finger tip to elbow kinda wash... Hey it might be OCD but at least you know my hands are clean when i shake your hand...

2) Eyebrow Aerobatics
I can move both my eyebrows, I am not talking about simultaneous but individually lah. When i move my Right eyebrow up it normally indicates; Anger, Intrigued, A strike of an Idea, Showing off, Coolness etc etc. Then when i move my Left eyebrow it indicates; Confusion, A funny form of being afraid or Sadness etc etc... You could say i have looked in a mirror to observe and understand my eyebrow expressions. Did this because many people always laughed when i convey a story and my sister says its because of my expressions, especially my eyebrows....... when she said this,...my right eyebrow moved up...

3) I cant lie to save my life.
Whenever I tell a lie everyone knows I'm lying, heck even the feller in the other room sighed when I tell a lie. I must thank my friends of whom i had lied to, who just brush it off by saying "Oh, OK...." even though they knew i was lying.....
Now the only good thing about this is... I can keep secrets for years and years and years.... I know what you're thinking,.. That's an Oxymoron right......how can some one who cant lie for nuts be able to keep a secret.... its simple really...... to avoid lying I just totally avoid talking about anything that I don't want to reveal..... So.. what I don't reveal... people won't know I know... and when they don't know I know... they won't know to ask... and when they don't ask me what they think I know .... I won't have to lie about what I know....... know what i mean....

4) Peanut Butter and Chocolate Stripe Sandwich
I eat Peanut Butter and Chocolate Stripe Sandwich for breakfast almost everyday and i wouldn't like it any other way. Even on weekends when I go out and bring back breakfast for my wife, I will just prepare myself my PBnCSS. The only time I eat something else is when I am on vacation, out with friends or I'm if I'm out of PBnCS. Of cos occasionally I do have a craving for McDonald's Big Breakfast... yum..

5) I'm a VW Beetle Nut
If you dont know already, I'm a vw beetle fan... When i say vw beetle, I mean classic vw beetle lah. I am able to differentiate all VW beetles by the model year. You might be saying "You mean there is more then one VW Beetle model?" or "That's a 65 and the other one is a 71?! They look the same to me!"........ Yes I can tell if the beetle is from the 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s or even the brazillian 80s. I can tell a 63 to a 64 no problem.... but just so you know, ....I dont like the current NEW beetle ....I think the new beetle is a stupid car.

My mates have told me if a beetle and a beautiful girl passes by... i wouldn't even notice the girl cos i am too busy guessing the age and condition of the beetle that past us. That's true ofcos... but i check-out the beetle first then take a quick glance at the girl... then continue to check-out the beetle. Unless ofcos that girl was Jessica Alba........

6) I see dead people
Ok maybe not as dramatic as Haley Joel Osment in Sixth Sense but yes i have had my share of paranormal encounters. From the scary to the not so scary and to the down right funny... ok maybe not so funny... I would like to just leave it at that because a ghost story just doesnt have the same ummph! when told in writing...

.
.
and there you have it folks... 6 of the most weirdest things i could think of, about me.. and I am sorry to say that I'm not going to tag anyone because i think i am getting too old for this (Said in a Lethal Weapon kind of way). Besides... I believe every blogger I know has done this tag already.

Gunman kills 32 in Virginia Tech rampage

Virginia Tech students gather in front of the War Memorial on campus in Blacksburg, Va. to mourn their fellow students Monday, April 16, 2007. A gunman massacred 32 people at Virginia Tech in the deadliest shooting rampage in modern U.S. history Monday, cutting down his victims in two attacks two hours apart before the university could grasp what was happening and warn students. I pray for the victims and their families.

Seeing Red

Bought a RED Heavy duty Dolphin torch light for the trip to Senyum. The last time i was there i used the normal Eveready Torch light. It was ok but not as bright as i wanted it to be. I was excited until a friend of mine told me that those Dolphin torchlights are very bright and durable but they dont last. At most the bateries last about two hours...... I am like alamak!!!... never mine lah i will still bring it along.

... did anyone watch Formula Uno last weekend ah.... What lah that stupid Massa... he better buck up before i come there and slap him silly. Some more almost taking out Raikkonen on that corner trying to overtake Hamilton. Just heard over the radio that raikkonen is very confident with the cars setup this week and is looking forward to Bahrin. But I say bah!!...hopefully Massa gets his act together because its no use being fastest in qualifiers but then drive like a taxi driver then terbabas(lose control)... goooo Ferrari... i am here waving the ferrari RED flag high yah.......

Talking about radio... If you were listening to Hitz FM radio today morning, you would have noticed that Rudy was on holiday or something like that and Andrew Netto would be temporally replacing him for two days. Yes thats right... the same Netto i wrote about lah.... that Funny Indian feller in RED. Congrats Andrew, i believe i dont have to tell you to enjoy every minute of it...

Whats with this freaky weather lah... its hot but it rains almost everyday...Is there a RED alert on the weather.... Is Al Gore righ! of cause his right... or he could be half right,,,,,,,,,,life... will always find a way... and nature will correct itself to the planets own benefit not ours because this is and how its always been...... something even greater then what we can comprehend.... peace.

298 Turtles

‘Malaysia seizes 298 poached turtles’

When will this ever stop?...When you hear news like this it is always about someones libido… yes…eat rhino’s penis sprinkled with rhino horn dust and get it ‘on’ all night…. For crying out loud lah… why is it that 90% of this kind of delicacies will land up in some kitchen in China … sheeeezs… and 10% of it will become decorations or fashion accessories.

People!!! When the buying stops, the killing will too.

Indian in red, a cat that isnt really a cat and the really roasted chickens.

Friday night was spent hunting for new sneakers for my wife.... it struck me that they make women’s sneakers so small and frail looking…. Why?… and it almost always has pink in its colour scheme…. Why?... anyway the hunt is still on…

Andrew had a show last Friday and Saturday night at Pampas Restaurant and Bar in KL (it’s near Little Havana). Most of the APMs went on Friday but Dono and I went for the show on Saturday.

(andrew is the one in red)

Andrew as usual brought down the house with his stand up attics. He’s a good Standup Comedian who has opened to the likes of Harith Iskandar, who happened to be there in the crowd that day too. The standup comedy scene here in Malaysia is booming and with acts like The Comeback Kings (Who are hilarious btw), I believe it will flourish and become as good as international acts like Jerry Seinfeld. Who knows?....

Before going for the show I had a Civet Cat sighting. I had gone to pick Dono for the show and was waiting outside, when his dad pointed up to the electrical pole lines. The little feller (Ok maybe not so little) was acrobatically walking on the telephone wire. I have seen this feller a number of times here in Section 4 PJ. It came into my room a few years ago once when I was staying in Section 4 and scared the gejibers out of my sister’s cat. kekeke

If you don’t know what a Civet Cat is google it lah…. It is more like a mongoose or weasel then a cat. In Malay I think they call it musang. Its really cute, intelligent… and amazingly agile.

After the show in Pampas, Dono and I decided to go watch 300. We headed over to Amcorp and saw a fire truck parked outside. On the third floor where the cinema is located we saw that there where a number of firemen at Kenny Rogers. I jokingly told Dono that the Chicken Grill which they leave on, with chicken rotating in must have caught fire, but it turned out to be true. When we got closer they where dousing that whole area. Apparently there wasn’t an actual fire but there was some amount of smoke. So it wasnt too serious.

Well after some busy bodying … we went over to the cinema and got the tickets for the midnight show. The movie was excellent. They have managed to make a very good movie rendition of the graphic novel 300… really really good, 9/10 for me. Every scene looked like an oil or air-brush painting…the fight scene where Stelios and Astinos take on a few ‘Immortals’ was so well executed…man!! Woah!! ….excellent!! actually… im going to give it a 10/10……. who cares if its historically incorrect.....

Thanks to reader Jeales for his information on these things that are 'growing' on my bumper. Apparently these are not spores but eggs from an insect called Lacewings. So, it did not grow on my bumper.

I have seen this insect in my garden and from what i have read, the Lacewings Larva also known as Aphid Lions eat all kinds of pest insects.... thats good! Whats interesting is that the lacewings layed these eggs exactly on the same spot as last year.... hmmm

Anyway more info on Lacewings can be found HERE and HERE . Time to get the camera out and try and take pictures of lacewings and its larvae
